Abstract: Gold nano colloids were synthesized by using a simple process in water with orange peel extract as the protective and reducing agents and chloroauric acid solution as precursor. The samples were characterized by using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), UV-vis spectrum, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The gold nanoparticles in the colloid are highly crystallized and have small size with a narrow distribution of 5-30 nm. The contents of orange peel extract and chloroauric acid solution played an important role in determining the size and morphology of the gold nanoparticles. The gold nanoparticles with the smallest size were obtained when 5 mL orange peel extract and 2 mL chloroauric acid solution were used.
