Abstract: Based on investigation on the geological background of the Jiaoyuanwu purple sand syderolite in Jingdezhen City, the mineral and chemical composition of the ore have been studied by using XRD, SEM and chemical analysis and other means. The Phase composition and micro-topography of pottery was also characterized. The results show that illite is the main clay minerals in the ore while chlorite is the second one, which is obviously different from that of Yixing purple sand syderolite. However, its chemical composition and the content of trace elements, as well as the microstructure of the made potty is quite similar to those made from theYixing purple sand syderolite.
