Abstract: Preparation of tetragonal phase barium titanate (BaTiO3) powder was carried out by hydrothermal ball milling dehydroxyl method, using barium hydroxide octahydrate and tetrabutyl titanate as raw materials. The effects of molar ratio of raw materials, reaction time and reaction temperature on the synthesis of tetragonal BaTiO3 were studied. Crystal phase structure, particle morphology and ceramic electrical properties of BaTiO3 were analyzed by XRD, TEM and SEM. Studies have shown that when the Ba/Ti ratio is 2 : 1, reaction time is 120 h, butanol to water volume ratio is 1 : 1, and the reaction temperature is 180 °C, high-purity tetragonal barium titanate powder with regular crystal form can be obtained. The resulting powder has small particle size, uniform particle size distribution and good dispersibility. The relative dielectric constant of BaTiO3 ceramic at room temperature is as high as 1,793, and the breakdown field strength is 3.1 kV/mm.
