Abstract: In this paper, yttrium oxide stabilized zirconia (YSZ) ceramics were prepared by nano-alumina. The samples were characterized by SEM and EDS, and the sintering density, bending strength and fracture toughness were analyzed. The results show that the doping modification of YSZ material with trace nano-alumina has been successfully realized by this wet grinding process. The grain size of zirconia ceramics is fine and the fracture is mainly transgranular. This may be due to the pinning effect of nano-alumina particles on the grain boundary of zirconia particles, which can effectively inhibit the abnormal grain growth of zirconia matrix and reduce all kinds of defect sizes in the matrix. It makes the matrix material have more uniform microstructure. When the alumina content is 0.25wt.%, the sintering density, bending strength and fracture toughness are 99.6%, 1206 MPa and 9.4 MPa·m1/2, respectively. The mechanical properties of the material are the best.
