Abstract: Scissors and carving knives are used in paper-cutting to create simple, concise and natural designs, which accentuate the main features of an object and represent its clear structure. The paper-cut patterns have much in common with those hand-carved on Cizhou ware which are famous for their continuous composition, smooth and lively strokes, and diverse styles. Therefore, paper-cut has seen a fast development in the decoration of Cizhou ware. Folk-art paper-cut patterns in terms of realistic and abstract forms are used in the decoration of Cizhou ware, which greatly enriches the expression of ceramic decoration.
