Abstract:Membrane fouling is inevitable for ceramic membranes applied in the treatment of cold rolling emulsified oily wastewater. The alkaline composite cleaning agents were prepared with different surfactants, sodium hydroxide and detergent aids as the main components in order to eliminate membrane foulants and simplify the chemical cleaning process. The chemical cleaning effect of prepared cleaning agents for fouled Al2O3 ceramic membranes were characterized by recovery ratio of permeate flux, oil rejection rate, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analyses. The industrial application cleaning tests were also conducted for Al2O3 ceramic membranes fouled by cold rolling emulsified oily wastewater from a steel mill. Results show that the prepared alkaline composite cleaning agents exhibit excellent cleaning effect and could remove the membrane foulants effectively. After cleaning, the permeate flux recovery ratios of pure water and oily water could reach 95.3% and 97.4%, respectively.
