Y3Al5O12:Eu3+ Phosphor Coated by SiO2

Abstract:Y3Al5O12:Eu3+ phosphors were coated with SiO2 by the chemical homogeneous precipitation method. Their crystal structure and surface morphology were characterized by XRD, SEM and IR, respectively. The results showed that the surface of Y3Al5O12:Eu3+ phosphors was evenly coated with SiO2, i.e. after surface treatment, and the crystal structure and luminescence center of Y3Al5O12:Eu3+ phosphors remained the same as the uncoated samples. The results demonstrated that the luminous intensity of coated Y3Al5O12:Eu3+ phosphors was higher than that of the uncoated samples, because SiO2 coating improved the surface state of the phosphors.
