Abstract:Membrane separation technology shows unique technical advantages in the treatment of oily wastewater. However, the gradual flux decline due to the membrane fouling must be resolved before the membrane is applied in industry. Especially, the irreversible membrane fouling generated by the deformation of oil droplets must be attacked for the treatment of the waste emulsion. To solve this problem, nano-sized ZrO2 coating-modified Al2O3 microfiltration membrane was prepared to obtain the hydrophilic membrane surface, which decreases the membrane fouling of oil droplets. The effects of the preparation condition of the modified membrane and the operation condition on the permeate flux were discussed. The results show that the nano coating increases the permeate flux of the modified membrane. The flux increases with the increase of the feed velocity.
