Abstract: The hydrated product from the cement mixed with ground steel slag was analyzed by XRD, and the influence of thesteel slag on the water consumption for standard consistency, the setting time and the strength of the product was studied. The results show that, properly ground steel slag can reduce the water consumption for the standard consistency of the hydrated cement, but the too finely ground will increase the water consumption, and the setting time also has the similar result; the optimal doping amount of steel slag is 10%, at which the strength of the 28d cement attains 54.5MPa, and the phasesaremainlyC2SH(C), AFt and Ca(OH)2; after 90 days, the transformation from AFt to AFm is not seen.

Key words: steel slag; setting time; compressive strength; hydrated product
