Abstract: In this paper, alumina porous ceramics was fabricated by using polymer sponge replica method. The influences ofpolyacrylamide as additive on the viscosity of the slurry, the formability and the strength were investigated and the effect of the recoating process observed. The results showed that: the sample sintered at 1600℃ for 2h had high strength when the formula consisted of 77.3% alumina, 18.2% Longyan Kaolin,1.8% talc, and 0.5% polyacrylamide (the viscosity of the slurry η0 was 6.325pa·s, and the slip consistency was 1.27). The strength of the sample was significantly improved after recoating. The sample calcined at 1100℃ was recoated and then sintered at 1500℃. Its bending strength can reach 3.54MPa.
