Abstract: As an excellent laser and scintillation host material, lutetium aluminum garnet (LuAG) crystal has a wide range of applications. In this paper, the structure, physical and chemical properties, the form and preparation techniques of LuAG crystal are summarized. The luminescence mechanism, scintillation properties and the potential applications of rare-earth doped LuAG crystals are presented.
