Abstract:Water -based alumina slurries were prepared for tape casting by using high concentration PANH4 as a base organic forming agent, and Arabic gum and crumb rubber as plasticizers. Alumina sheets obtained by tape casting and sintering were also observed. The rheological study of the slurries is focused on the effect of the addition amount of the plasticizers on the tensile strength of the green tapes and the sintering behaviors. The results show that the novel water-based slurries exhibit rheological behaviors quite suitable for tape casting. The addition of Arabic gum and crumb rubber significantly improved the forming performance of the green tapes. The maximum tensile strength (~3.09MPa) of green tapes was obtained as AG and crumb rubber were added at the ratio of 1:1 with total addition of 8%.
