Abstract:Kinetics and influencing factors(such as original TiCl concentration and temperature) of sol-qel transition of TiO. sO prepared by using TiCl ethanol solution as a precursor were studied. The activated energy of the transition was calculated also. The gelatinizing mechanism of TiCl,in ethanol solution can be described as followings. When TiCl, was mixed with ethanol,it would react with ethanol to form Ti(OC2Hs),Cl4n, which absorbed water from the atmosphere to form inorganic polymer of Ti(OH),during the gelatinizing process. A gradual decrease in coaqulation time of sol is observed as the temperature increases.Reaction activated energy is related to original TiCla concentration.

Keywords:TiCl4,sol-gel transition,titanium dioxide
