A Study on the Preparation of Turquoise Pigments by the Liquid Phase Method

Abstract: In this paper‚a method on the preparation of ultra fine turquoise pigments powders using TEOS, ZrOCland VOCl3 as materials in water and ethanol mediums was presented.Vanadium was homogeneously dispersed in ZrSiO4 and solid solution was formed.By systematically changing the Zr/Si(molar ratio)and the solid solution amount of Vanadium‚the optimal color development effect can be obtained.By SEM、DTA-TGA and the infrared ray spectrum test and analysis‚the relationship of color development of samples during heating with the solid solution amount of Vanadium in ZrSiO4 was obtained and it was concluded that V4+ partly displaced Zr4+ in ZrSiO4 to form solid solution.
