​Strengthening and Toughening of Alumina Ceramics Through Phase Transformation and Laminated Composite Approaches

Abstract: In this work, approaches of phase transformation and lamination were used to strengthen and toughen alumina based composite ceramics- ZTA ceramic acted as a component of phase transformation toughening in the composites Through a lamination process, ZTA/BN laminated composite ceramics were prepared The results showed that the tensile strength of the ZIA/BN laminated composite ceramics was almost the same as that of the alumina ceramic while the impact strength of the ZTA/BNin-creased to be 37 times higher than that of the alumina ceramie
