Abstract: The body mass for J izhou temmoku was not finely prepared as revealed by the existence of large grains of quartz and iron minerals in the glaze layer. Some types of Jizhou temmoku glaze art of two layers--- the black bottom layer and yellowish surface layer. The surface layer was applied onto the bottom layer through different techniques, including spraying, dropping, painting and etc. In the £iring process, through high temperature, chemical reaction to glaze, running, permeation, crystalization,and I iquid phase separation,diff ernt patterns of crystal ine spots and streaks were formed on the glaze surface during cooling,forming various aesthetically pleasing appearances of Jizhou temmoku glazes.
