Abstract : Several porous ceramic supports were developed and used as immobilizing yeast cell to ferment ethanol. The relation between the porous structure of ceramic support and the number of immobilized yeast cell and kinetics to ferment ethanol were analysed. The ceramic support was compaired with Ca-alginate gel, the result indicated that ceramic was better than Ca-alginate gel. It is considered that ceramic support will have extnsite industrial prospeets.
