Abstract: Mullite substrate to which magnesium series additive is added, is sintered under the different temperatures. The paper has made an observation and analyses of its samples on phase composition, relative content, microstructure and also measured the density, porosity, shrinkage, thermal expansion coefficient, dielectric constant and bending strength and properties. Through experiments, the paper proves that magnesium series additive is very useful for sintering of mullite substrate And no matter which additive is used, intermediate reaction production of the substrate is only cordi-erite and final microstructure of sintered substrate is that ortho-column shape of mullite crystal is distributed among glassy matrix in disorder, so it has a good property used as substrate material in large-scale inter grated circuit.
