Extended abstract:[Background and purposes] The intangible cultural heritage of Jingdezhen ceramics is an important part of China's excellent traditional culture, carrying the essence of Chinese art and witnessing the vigorous development of traditional craftsmanship. It is a unique carrier and typical representative of China's traditional culture. Geographical indications are important resources for promoting regional characteristic economic development and effective carriers for protecting intangible cultural heritage. By protecting geographical indications, the market value and cultural recognition of the intangible cultural heritage of Jingdezhen ceramics can be enhanced, while the group inheritance and the revitalization of the local ceramic industry can be promoted. Strengthening the protection of geographical indications for the intangible cultural heritage of Jingdezhen ceramics is a new topic. It is not only an implementing strategy for the intellectual property protection of the intangible cultural heritage of Jingdezhen ceramics, but also an important way to tell the Chinese story well to the world and build the Jingdezhen National Ceramic Cultural Inheritance and Innovation Experimental Zone.[Methods] Two methods are adopted in this article: literature survey and interdisciplinary study. By collecting and organizing literature, the relevant literature on the geographical indication protection of Jingdezhen's intangible cultural heritage of ceramics was reviewed, thus providing a comprehensive understanding of the current research status and development trends and hence offering a solid theoretical foundation for the research. Through the analysis of existing academic papers, research reports, policy documents and other related materials, the achievements and shortcomings of previous research were summarized, so as to clarify the entry point and focus of the current study. At the same time, the interdisciplinary research method was adopted, thus integrating knowledge from multiple disciplines, such as cultural heritage studies, law, cultural studies and economics. The connotation and system of Jingdezhen's intangible cultural heritage of ceramics were explored from the perspective of cultural heritage studies, the legal system and legal practice of geographical indication protection of Jingdezhen's intangible cultural heritage of ceramics were analyzed from the perspective of law, the value of Jingdezhen's intangible cultural heritage of ceramics was excavated from the perspective of cultural studies and the impact of geographical indication protection of Jingdezhen's intangible cultural heritage of ceramics on the development of the ceramic cultural industry was explored from the perspective of economics. Through the cross-integration of multiple disciplines, a comprehensive in-depth study on the geographical indication protection path of Jingdezhen's intangible cultural heritage of ceramics was conducted, providing a comprehensive approach and method for solving practical problems.[Results] The intangible cultural heritage of Jingdezhen ceramics and geographical indication protection showed consistency and synergy in terms of cultural value core, regional relevance, protection subjects and protection goals, providing a solid theoretical foundation and practical path for strengthening the protection, inheritance and rational utilization of Jingdezhen ceramic intangible cultural heritage through the geographical indication system. Geographical indication protection not only focuses on the physical form and technological development of Jingdezhen ceramic intangible cultural heritage, but also its core essence lies in the recognition of traditional ceramic techniques and the regional cultural spirit carried by them, which can effectively enhance the cultural value of ceramic intangible cultural heritage and achieve the transformation of economic value by adding the cultural value. Although the geographical indication system can promote the dissemination and promotion of Jingdezhen ceramic intangible cultural heritage to a certain extent and play a positive role in the protection of intangible cultural heritage rights, there is a structural mismatch between the current protection mechanism and the demand for industrial transformation. There are still deficiencies in raw material guarantee system, digital supervision capacity and the transformation of international rules. In this regard, to achieve the sustainable inheritance and development of Jingdezhen ceramic intangible cultural heritage, a three-dimensional governance framework of "institutional supply-technical governance-international coordination" should be constructed.[Conclusions] Under the accelerated backdrop of the construction of the Jingdezhen National Ceramic Culture Inheritance and Innovation Pilot Zone and its World Cultural Heritage nomination, geographical indications, as intellectual property rights integrating regional natural and humanistic values, have demonstrated both cultural and economic significances. By formulating quality standards for traditional craftsmanship, mandating the application of core intangible cultural heritage techniques and providing institutional safeguards and market incentives, the added value of intangible cultural heritage products could be enhanced, the inheritors' income could be increased, community identity could be strengthened and fosters a sustainable inheritance environment could be fostered. The Jingdezhen city urgently needs to optimize the collaborative governance system for intangible cultural heritage and geographical indications, overcome management limitations, align with international rules and protection standards, strengthen intellectual property protection mechanisms to combat infringement and elevate brand value. This initiative unleashes the efficacy of geographical indications, propelling ceramics to reinforce their global cultural brand position in international cultural trade, thereby achieving synergistic development of cultural inheritance and industrial innovation.
