Extended abstract:[Background and purposes] The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly states that we must "resolutely win the critical battle of key core technology" and "accelerate the realization of high-level technological self-reliance and strength", pointing the way for scientific and technological innovation in the new era. Enterprises, especially small and medium-sized ceramic enterprises, as the main force of scientific and technological innovation, shoulder the important responsibility of breaking through key core technologies. Breakthrough innovation has become the key to gaining competitive advantage and sustainable development for enterprises. However, small and medium-sized ceramic enterprises often face bottlenecks of resource constraints during the innovation process, such as lack of funds, insufficient technological accumulation, etc., which greatly limit their ability to carry out breakthrough innovations.[Methods] The longitudinal approach of exploratory case studies shows remarkable advantages in answering questions such as "what", "how to achieve it" and "why". Based on the comprehensive analysis framework of "cognition-action-result", combining with the theory of resource pooling, this study is aimed to deeply analyze a series of behaviors of Renew Culture in the process of breakthrough innovation.[Results] In this paper, Renew Culture was selected as the research object, based on the theory of resources bricolage, the "cognitive-action-results" research framework, depth analysis of Renew Culture and determination of the goal orientation. Under the resource constraints, it was attempted to understand how to use resources matching target orientation process, build the "goal orientation (cognitive) -resource constraints-resources bricolage (action) and breakthrough innovation (results) -breakthrough innovation mode" research framework. It was found that, in the early stages, companies achieve service breakthrough innovation through internal accumulation of resource acquisition behavior. In the initial implementation stage, the goal is directed towards supply chain restructuring, while industrial chain innovation is achieved through the combination of internal and external resources. In the stage of comprehensive improvement, enterprises achieve market breakthrough innovation through internal and external cooperative resource leveraging behavior.[Conclusions] Based on the analysis framework of "cognition-action-results", the vertical single case study of Renew Culture was used to explore the mechanism and evolution of breakthrough innovation of enterprises. Firstly, the breakthrough innovation of enterprises has experienced the key stage of service breakthrough innovation, supply chain breakthrough innovation and market breakthrough innovation. In terms of evolution path, enterprises allocate different goal orientation at different stages, according to the industry current situation, the demand pulling situation and the market pushing situation, carrying out corresponding resource pooling behavior, so as to achieve breakthrough innovation. Secondly, Renew Culture creatively adopts the two innovative strategies of demand pull mode and technology and market interaction mode. The former emphasizes the market demand as the guidance and drives the service and product innovation through the deep exploration of the industry pain points and customer demand, while the latter focuses on the two-way interaction between the design and the market, using the design innovation to lead the market demand and promote the market breakthrough, so as to occupy the dominant position in the fierce market competition. Finally, in the initial stage of breakthrough innovation, the enterprises face the current situation of the industry, address the pain points and complete the service breakthrough innovation through internal accumulated resource acquisition. In the initial realization stage of breakthrough innovation, the enterprises guide the supply chain reconstruction. In the comprehensive promotion stage of breakthrough innovation, the enterprises guide the goal to the cross-border integration, thus realizing the market breakthrough innovation through the internal and external cooperative resource leverage.
