Extended abstract:[Background and purposes] Currently, the world is experiencing profound changes unseen in a century, while China is in her best period for development since modern times. However, as a major developing country, China is still in the primary stage of socialism. Continuously deepening industrial economic reforms, strengthening efficient innovations, performing dynamic transformations and persistently promoting high-quality development, are the primary tasks so as to build a socialist modernized country, as well as constitute the main theme to fully establish a powerful socialist modernized country. In addition, with the advent of the fourth industrial revolution, it is necessary to continuously draw lessons from history to address issues, such as confronting the suppression of value rationality in real life by instrumental rationality in the context of industrialization, balancing the individual and collective interests and vigilanting against "false prosperity" disguised under the guise of "slogan revolution" and "slogan patriotism" in the context of capital.[Methods] This article was aimed to analyze how modern patriotic entrepreneurs, represented by Du Zhongyuan, utilized modern technology and education to improve China's traditional porcelain industry in modern times and hence provide historical insights for the innovative development of the current ceramic industry, ceramic technology and ceramic education. Firstly, relevant historical documents were collected from various sources, which were then identified and organized in terms of their origins. Secondly, with the guidance of historical materialism, relevant historical literature records were objectively and dialectically analyzed and studied. Finally, by combining the dual evidence method of archaeology, the relevant historical documents, historical relics and artifacts were comprehensively studied to draw conclusions accordingly.[Results] By reviewing relevant historical documents, the origin and formation of Du Zhongyuan's industrial salvation thought were clearly restored, while practically exploring Du Zhongyuan's industrial salvation thought, effectively accelerating the process of modern Chinese ceramic industrialization, promoting the modernization of Chinese ceramic vocational education and bustering the scientific management of ceramics. The reform practice of the porcelain industry should be integrated with the salvation of the country through industry, whereas a sorrowful and stubborn path was explored for the revitalization of traditional Chinese industries in an extremely difficult environment.[Conclusions] Du Zhongyuan's simple ideas of saving the country through industry, sincere patriotism, the "integration of science and education" style industrialization, construction of the porcelain industry, the "integration of land, industry, academia, research, and commerce" business model, the "integration of factories and schools" concept of independent talent cultivation, and the "government gentry commerce education" concept of diversified collaborative benefit management still have and significance as references and guides in China's current porcelain industry reform, innovation and talent cultivation.
