Abstract: The Ni-YSZ anode half-cell was prepared by casting-impregnation method, and then the Ni-YSZ anode surface was modified by dipping CeO2 and BaO respectively in the anode. Finally, a single cell was prepared with LSM-YSZ as cathode. H2 and ethanol were used as fuel to test the electrical performance of the single cell. I-V-P and EIS of the single cell were tested by cyclic voltammetry and AC impedance respectively. The microstructure of the single cell was observed by SEM-EDS. The results of EDS show that the contents of CeO2 and BaO in the anode are 5.03wt.% and 2.2wt.% respectively. When ethanol was used as fuel, the power density of CeO2-Ni-YSZ anode single cell was 0.22 W/cm2 at 750 ℃, and the electrical properties were stable within 7 h. No significant decay of the single cell performance was found. The power density of BaO-Ni-YSZ anode single cell was 0.11W/cm2 at 750 ℃, and the decay rate of electrical properties was 0.7%/h within 9h.The experimental results showed that the carbon deposition resistance of Ni-YSZ anode can be obviously improved by the modification of CeO and BaO; The electro-catalysis performance of single cell can be obviously improved by dipping CeO2.

Key words: dipping; Ni-YSZ; CeO2; BaO; carbon deposition resistance
