Abstract: ZnO nanorods were prepared by hydrothermal method and were used in the DSSCs as the photoanode. The effect of ZnO seed layers made by different ways on ZnO nanorods and DSSCs performance were investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were carried out to characterize the composition and morphology of ZnO seed layer, ZnO NRs, ZnO NRs and ZnO NPs composite structure (ZnO NRs/NPs). Short circuit current density-open circuit voltage (J-V) curves, electrochemical impedence spectroscopy(EIS), compulsory modulation photocurrent spectrum (IMPS) and compulsory modulation photovoltage spectrum (IMVS)of DSSCs assembled by different photoanode films were tested. Researches show that the PCE of the DSSCs assembled by the ZnO NRs developed from ZnO seed layer prepared by dip-coating method was optimum, 1.65%, the short circuit current is 5.80mA/cm2, open circuit voltage is 0.62V and fill factor is 0.46.
