Abstract:It’s specific targeted to focus on the adaptation of rare-earth zirconates agglomerated powders for plasma spraying. Original Sm2Zr2O7 powders, synthesized by a coprecipitation - calcination method, was granulated with different process parameters of spray-drying method. The size, morphology and properties of agglomerated powders were characterized to study, on which the influence of properties of slurry and process parameters of spray-drying method. So that spray drying process optimization was identified which could obtain Sm2Zr2O7 agglomerated powders of good characteristics. And Sm2Zr2O7 ceramic coating was made by air plasma spraying. The results show that increasing solid content of the slurry and enlarging rotating speed of nozzle or feedstock giving rate can improve the of the particles, particularly the feedstock giving rate, while particle size can be well controlled by changing the rotating speed of nozzle. The process parameters of Sm2Zr2O7 agglomerated powders after optimization are 50wt.% solids content , 0.5wt.% binder content , 35 hz rotating speed of nozzle and 40 rpm feedstock giving rate. The ceramic coat made by air plasma spraying has compact structure with the porosity of 9.3% and is well combined with bond coat.
