Abstract: In order to prepare TiCx-Ni matrix composites with excellent properties, Ti3AlC2 was prepared by decomposition reaction of Ti3AlC2 at 1250 ℃, and the formation of ultrafine TiCx reinforced particles and Al, and the reaction of Al with Ni to form Ni3Al. The samples of TiCx-Ni matrix composites were prepared by hot pressing sintering after adding extrusion. The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM,EDS and compressive properties. The results show that the properties of TiCx/Ni-based composites have a great relation with the volume ratio of ceramic phase and the sintering temperature of the composites. With the increase of the content of ceramic phase, the interfacial defects in the microstructure of the composites increase correspondingly with the increase of the temperature and the size of the reinforced phase and the ‘x’ value of TiCx. The results show that TiCx/Ni composites prepared with Ti3AlC2 preform at 40% sintering temperature and 1400 oC have better interfacial bonding. The lower ‘x’ value of TiCx is only 0.65, and the size of enhanced particles is in the submicron range even nanolevel, the compression performance of the most outstanding.
