Abstract: With varieties of forms for a wide range of uses, onggi pottery is a necessity of life in Korea which no one in the contemporary age can live without despite the progress of time. As an important component of Korean ceramic history and culture, it has a special appeal to the researchers. It distinguishes itself with its cheap material, simple craftsmanship, and practical functions. The distinctive national characteristics have endowed on it unique charm, local color and rich cultural implications.
