Abstract: In this paper, the definition and origins of residual stress were stated, and the influence factors of welding residual and its effects on weldingproperties were introduced. Subsequently, a series of experimental techniques which can be applied to measure residual stress in pipeline welding were illustrated, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each technique were analyzed. Detailed introductions had been particularly made to diffraction technology and deep hole drilling methods that used for residual stress measurement. The developing trend of the analysis of residual stress of pipeline welding was prospected.
