Abstract: Spinel CoAl2O4 blue colorant is one of the most widely used pigments in blue ceramic ink. Using Al2O3 and CoO, the pigment material CoAl2O4 is prepared by solid phase method, then analyzed by XRD, SEM, UV-Visible spectrophotometer, etc., to study the effects of different mass ratios of raw materials, holding time and calcination temperature on the degree of crystallization and coloration of CoAl2O4 to obtain the optimum process parameters for reducing production cost and saving energy. The results show that the optimum conditions for the preparation of cobalt blue material with good color are as follows: m(CoO) : m(Al2O3)=0.540, the calcination temperature is 1200 °C, and the holding time is 2 h. At the same time, the colorant has good visible light response and fluorescence effect.
