Abstract: The Al2O3-based compressive seal is mainly composed of Al2O3 and Al fine powders for SOFC, including seal tape and paste. The seal paste gets best fluidity and dispersity with 2wt.% menhaden oil as dispersant. The flexible seal that combines seal tape and paste can effectively reduce the difficulty level of assembling the SOFC stack and improve the reliability of seal. The real operation situation is simulated and the leakage test is done. The results show that the leak rate of this combination seal is 0.016sccm/cm under 1 psi input gas pressure and it can meet the requirement for seal. The resistivity is about 7.5×104 Ω•cm at operation temperature and meets the requirement for insulation. Microstructure and phase structure of seal are tested through SEM and XRD.
