Abstract: Yttrium silicate has been considered as a desirable anti-oxidation coating for C/C and C/SiC composites due to its high melt point, low coefficient of thermal expansion and oxygen diffusion, low modulus, low thermal conductivity and high chemical and thermal stability. In this paper, research progress in structure, anti-oxidation property and fabrication methods of yttrium silicate coatings were reviewed. Then the development trend and key problems were pointed out.
