Abstract: A porous geopolymer material with good compressive strength and water absorption was prepared by foaming method, using metakaolin and industrial water glass as raw materials. When the content of foam agent was 0.7wt.%, the compressive strength of the material was 6.6 MPa, and the breaking strength was 2.1 MPa, and the water absorption was 44%, and the volume density was 0.90 g/cm3. After adding some cement clinker to improve the material performance, the compressive strength of the material was 12 MPa, and the breaking strengthwas 3.8 MPa, and the water absorption was 39%, and the volume density was 1.02 g/cm3.
