Abstract:The inexpensive multi -channel cordierite ceramic microfiltration membrane was prepared with traditional ceramic materials, such as kaolin, bauxite and talc, by extrusion and dip -coating. The microstructure and performance of the membrane samples were characterized by scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction. The results show that the cordierite support with the porosity of 28.2 % is prepared at 1200 ℃. The cordierite top membrane with the thickness of about 80 μm is formed by dip-coating when the solid content is 25 wt% and the dipping time is 10 s. The microfiltration membrane has lower thermal expansion coefficient, better microstructure and alkaline-resistance.
