Preparation and Catalytic Activity of Silver Nanoparticles

Abstract: With polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as stabilizer and sodium tetrahydroborate as reducer, silver nanoparticles were synthesized by chemical reduction method. The morphology, size and crystallinity of silver nanoparticles were investigated by TEM and XRD. The results showed that the silver nanoparticles are highly monodisperse, stable and greatly crystallized with the average diameter of around 15nm. The experiment of toluidine blue (TB) reduced by sodium tetrahydroborate utilizing silver nanoparticles as catalysts indicated the as-prepared silver nanoparticles have high catalyzing activity.
