Abstract: Alumina fiber reinforced porous ceramics were prepared by adding plasticizers and pore-forming agents by the way of extrusion forming. The influences of the alumina fiber content and the sintering temperature on the properties of the material were studied. The results show that the contractibility of the material decreases and the porosity and the flexural strength of the material first increase and then decrease with the increasing of the sintering temperature and the alumina fiber content. When the alumina fiber content is 4% and the sintering temperature is 900℃, the flexural strength of the material is the highest and reaches 4.19Mpa, which has increased by 35% compared with the original matrix. As a result of adding alumina fibers, the crack of porous ceramics was effectively solved.

Key words: alumina fiber; porous ceramics; flexural strength; ceramic crack
