Abstract: TiC-TiB2 composite ceramic with its high hardness, high fracture toughness and excellent wear resistance has become a research hotspot of engineering ceramics. However, because the TiC-TiB2 composite ceramic is difficult to prepare and compact, its application has been extremely limited. This paper introduced the synthesis and preparation methods of TiC-TiB2composite ceramics, their microstructure and mechanical properties, especially those of the large size, high density eutectic TiC-TiB2 composite ceramic prepared at the Research Institute for Advanced Materials of Ordnance Engineering College by combustion synthesis under high gravity, with the view to provide theoretical support for its wider applications.
