Abstact: The ball mill grinding operation is considered to be done by the action of the balls cascading or cataracting according to the speed of mill. The cascading applies to the rolling of balls from top to bottom of the leap and the cataracting refers to the rising to a maxium height of the balls and then throwing to the toe of the leap. The cataracting has been studied and givcd mathematical consideration and the result obtained are the theoretical basis for design of small and medium sized ball mills. But for the large sized ball mills, it is recognized. that the grinding action is done by the cascading balls. This paper studies the cascading of balls and the technical parameters oflarge sized ball mills.
