Abstract: Based on tracing to the changes of the microstructure and its phases in the process of cordierite sagger in use this paper made an approach to the microstructure of sagger with its increases in use and the difference between as well. The study showed how the ageing mechanism of the sagger was caused, with the firing times increased, the amount of the cordierite in sagger was getting less and less while the mullite was keeping on developing steadily, at the same time more and more g1ass phases came into existence.
