Abstract:  The binding raw materials used for manufacturing of“mullite- cordi-erite sagger” are always Baitu c1ay and Zhangzhou c1ay in Jingdezhen dis一tric. What is the chang of the microstructure of the sagger during the chang of the batch weights of the c1ays described and how are the tech 一nological properties of the sagger affected by the presence of cordierite and mullite are investigated in this paper. It is discovered that ( 1 ) The cordierite content in sagger increases and mullite content decreases with increasing amount of Baitu c1ay and decreasing amonut of Zhangzhou clay; ( 2)The resistance to thermaI shock is improved obviously due to the presence of cordierite, but ( 8 ) the creeping resistance of the sagger at high temperature is impaired by the presence of cordierite.
