Abstract: "You Hui" is a mixture of lime carbonate and plant ash, short for MLA. It is a unique classical glaze-use lime-ash flux of Jingdezhen.How to make it has been an important subject for the researchers of ceramics both at home and abroD.d to explore the secret of Jingdezhen ancient porcelain making. Through the investigation on the imitation process purposely on the primary place, the paper briefly introduces the preparation of MLA, in order to correct the misunderstandings recorded in the litera_ture and documents. By reasoning and examing, the paper demonstrates in detail the technology principle,that is,the preparation of MLA is a one of processing limestone into calcium carbonate powder, and it is a classical and quite economical preparation method, the mechanism of urine- soaking MLA is to cause Ca(OH) 2 remained in the MLA being carbonated entirely,and still resulting NH,OH;thus deflocculating glaze suspension. Finally it also makes a textural research on the names of the fuel used in process which were recorded in the documents from the ancient to the present time as well as the form of the combustion. The corrections are made to "Pteris multifida" , "Calcination" and "Persimmon wood" which should be "Dicranopteris dichotoma (Thunb) Bernh21 , and "dow firing," and "wood chip" respectively.
