Abstract: The body mass for J izhou temmoku was not finely prepared as revealed by the existence of large grains of quartz and iron miner­als in the glaze layer. Some types of Jizhou temmoku glaze art of two layers--- the black bottom layer and yellowish surface layer. The surface layer was applied onto the bottom layer through diffe­rent techniques, including spraying, dropping, painting and etc. In the £iring process, through high temperature, chemical reaction to glaze, running, permeation, crystalization,and I iquid phase bepa­ration,diff ernt patterns of crystal} ine spots and streaks were form­ed on the glaze surface during cooling,forming various aesthetical­ly pleasing appearances of Jizhou temmoku glazes.
