Improvement on the Envelope Method Evaluating R- Curve of Ceramics

Abstract: In this paper, the s trength- indentation load relation was analyzed, a new method is proposed to define the point in the K - curve at which the R - curve intersect the points form the locus of the R - curve. This method complemented the conventional "tangency condition"approach in determining the R - curve from the experimental s trength - indentation load relation, the phys ical ins ight of the s trength - indentation load relation is explored by developing the method in the present s tudy.
