Study on Semantic Dimension of Modern Zibo Big Fish Plate Decoration from the Perspective of Design Semiotics

Abstract:  As the daily porcelain widely used in Zibo area, the most striking part of the big fish dish lies in its rich folk custom flavor. The changes in the fish dish pattern characteristics reflected the evolution of the folk life style, folk aesthetic style and decorative skills at that time. Since the end of Qing Dynasty, with the continuous development of folk creation, it has been explored and developed with different degrees in terms of content, form and craft, thus gradually becoming representative and symbolic ceramic works in the Zibo area. This paper was aimed to conduct a preliminary study on the representation characteristics, internal meaning and design ideas of Zibo fish grain plate from the semantic dimension of design semeiology, so as to have a deeper understanding of the cultural value and artistic value of Zibo fish plate and promote the cultural inheritance of fish grain plate.
