Abstract: Crystal structural and electrical properties of manganese doped bismuth barium titanate BaBi8Ti7O27 lead-free piezoelectric ceramics have been studied. The BaBi8Ti7O27-xMnCO3 (x=0, 0.015, 0.03, 0.06, 0.12, 0.16, 0.20 wt.%) ceramics were prepared using the conventional solid reaction method. All the samples were of single phase, while the grains were well developed and the doping MnCO3 promoted the grain growth of the ceramics. The acceptor doping in the ceramics resulted in a decrease in electrical conductivity and an increase in the energy activity. The sample with 0.16 wt.% Mn had a coefficient (d33) of 22.8 pC/N, which was much higher than that (6.7 pC/N) of the undoped one by more than three times.

Key words: crystal structure; electrical property; piezoelectric coefficient; electrical conductivity
