Abstract: Xing kiln is one of the famous ancient chinese kilns. Through a series of observation and analysis,it is found that:
I. It is a new discovery that the bodies of Xing kiln fine white porcelain of Sui Dynasty had exceptionally higher contents of K2O. Potash feldspar was considered a major raw material for making the bodies and glazes of this type porcelain. The bodies were charac terized by high whiteness, fine and compact texture, low porosity and translucency.
2. The firing temperature for Sui Dynasty coarse porcelain is 1230一 1280 ℃: , while for Tang Dynasty fine porcelain is about 1360℃.
