Abstract: Aiming at the accuracy and fairness of the product model of domestic ceramic products in a three-dimensional visualization environment, a method for surface reconstruction of ceramic products is proposed. This method is based on the scan data of the appearance of ceramic products, which uses non-uniform rational B-splines (NURBS) to express conventional and generalized cross-section curves to form the cross-section curve clusters of the surface of ceramic products. A surface lofting method based on fairing optimization was used to interpolate curve clusters to generate surfaces of the ceramic products. Finally, two sets of examples are used to verify the results. It was shown that, compared with the traditional method, the model constructed by the improved smoothing optimization algorithm in this paper demonstrated an increase in the accuracy by 36.8% and 30.6%, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed method.
