A Soft Measurement Method of Ceramic Tile Flatness Based on Machine Vision Technology

Abstract: For the current ceramic tile production lines, it is impossible to measure surface flatness of the ceramic tiles by using the traditional mechatronic surface flatness measuring instrument. A soft measurement method is proposed based on machine vision technology. Laser lines with a 45 ° inclination are used to scan the whole ceramic tile surface. The shape of the laser lines projected on a ceramic tile surface is obtained by using a set of industrial cameras in high angle shot, while the shapes of the left and right edges of the ceramic tile surface are simultaneously obtained. Mathematical model of the shape of the ceramic tile surface is established by the mathematical models of the left and right edges and a series of laser lines. Surface flatness of the ceramic tile is then accurately calculated according to the mathematical model and the national standard GB/T3810.2-2016.
