Abstract: Alumina porous alumina ceramics with high porosity were prepared by gel casting method, and the effects of sintering aids and sintering temperature on the compressive strength and porosity were studied. The results showed that when 1wt.% Magnesium Oxide was used as sintering aid, Magnesium Oxide was uniformly distributed in the sample, which promoted the sintering of alumina fiber. When the sintering temperature was 1500 ℃, the porous alumina ceramics could be obtained with porosity of 77%, volume density of 0.84 g/cm3 and compression strength of 5.4 MPa.
