The Impact of Western Culture on Chinese Ceramics via the Maritime Silk Road since the 17th Century

Abstract: Chinese ceramics with both technical and artistic values were spread to Western countries via the Maritime Silk Road.However, the first ceramics sold to the West were shaped mainly in Chinese style, which were not much appreciated by the Westerners. Later, in order to cater to their aesthetic and cultural traditions, Chinese ceramics were modulated accordingly and were daubed with western cultural characteristics.
