Abstract: The effect of ZrO2 content on the crystallization mechanism of CaO - SiO2 glass es was investigated by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). Kinetic pa rameters such as the crystallization activation energy(E), the frequency factor (ν) and the crystal growth index(n) have been evaluated according to the JMA equation. In the studied glass system, the larger the ZrO2 content, the lower the crystallization activation energy(E), while the larger the crystal growth index(n) and the frequency factor(ν). When the content of ZrO2 was 7% in the glass, the crystallization activation energy(E) was 235.580kJ/mol, and the crystal growth index(n) was 4.70. Thes e results suggested that ZrO2 could promote the crystallization effectively.
