Abstract: Ni coated WC on 45# steel surface was produced by las er smelting. The physical phas es analysis of the treated cladding layer is made by XRD. Metallography is used to obs erve the microstructure, and the hardness is tested by Microhardness Tester. The experimental results indicate that the Ni coated WC coating by las er smelting has higher density the porosity has decreased. The WC has decompos ed into W2C and the microhardness has slightly increas ed.
